Our Filler Treatment

Dermal fillers are hyaluronic acid. Along with collagen and elastin, hyaluronic acid is one of the three primary molecules that make up skin. As we age we produce less of these three molecules resulting in dryer, thinner and more wrinkled skin. Facial aging is a process that encompasses fat pad atrophy, bone recession, excess skin laxity leading to an overall volume loss and hollowed look.

Fortunately, dermal fillers can be injected to help restore lost volume, reshape the face as well as fill lines and wrinkles. Results are immediate and fillers can last between 4 months to 2 years depending on product longevity. Side effects are generally mild and can include bruising and swelling at the injection site. Fillers can also have serious side effects which should be discussed with you physician. Choosing a highly trained injector is imperative to producing desired results and avoiding seriously complications. Make sure your injector takes the time to review the potential risks of treatment and is properly trained to identify problems should they occur.

Facial Volume Loss & Fine Lines

As we age our fat pads (that give us contour and shape) begin to shrink and bone recedes causing facial volume loss. Dermal fillers are commonly used to restore volume and help reduce facial lines. Common areas to restore volume or enhance include: cheeks, temples, under-eyes, nasiolabial folds (smile lines), jowls, marionette lines, smokers lines and hands. The total treatment takes between 10 - 30 minutes. An anaesthetic cream is always applied prior to treatment to reduce discomfort. There is minimal downtown and those receiving treatment can be excited to appreciate their results immediately.

Following the procedure Dr. Dargie will take the time to go through a complete post care routine to ensure optimal results. The dermal fillers that are used for these treatments are much thicker than those utilized for lips and fine lines. These can last approximately nine months to two years depending on the product chosen.
